Roger has been an avid dog lover ever since he was a young boy growing up in Donovan, IL. While in high school Roger raised coonhounds and spent many hours training and competing with them. One particular coonhound, Tree Talking Sam, took the coveted "Champion of the night Champions" honor in the North Dakota State Hunt. Tree Talking Sam was retired with 3 "Champion of the Night Champion" wins working towards his "Grand Night Champion" title. Roger still spends time reading and keeping up with the latest trends and management procedures associated with the canine kennel business.
Roger is very involved in all aspects of the kennel including: walking and grooming, as well as all the building and grounds maintenance. Much time is also spent managing the distribution of Solid Gold Pet Products to dozens of local retailers across Southern Minnesota. Roger chose to become a distributor of Solid Gold several years ago due to it's all natural ingredients containing no preservatives and no animal fat.
Roger thoroughly enjoys taking care of the dogs and gets great satisfaction out of knowing the dogs are getting the best possible care while staying at Heartlund Kennels.
